Oscillator X Returns from Paris
Oscillator X just returned home from Paris, France where the duo performed two shows and exhibited at a convention. The group was scheduled to perform a concert at a Paris nightclub “Be There” and also to exhibit for two days at the Paris Manga convention, along with thier distribution partners EDG.
Day one of the convention went very well – there were enough French fans in attendance that OSX sold out of about half of the merchandise that they had brought to the con. Then it was decided that they would do an impromptu performance right in the booth on the following day. After spending the evening driving all over Paris and borrowing bits and pieces of pro-audio gear from friends (and freshly aquired friends), and cramming it all into little tiny cars, they were able to cobble together a PA and proceded to rock a 6-song mini set for the convention attendees. The set went over great and by the time they were finished, both the group and their French distributor were completely sold out of all OSX merchandise – leaving nothing to actually sell at the concert later that evening.
Be There is a small, but very well equipped nightclub and was packed with mainly people that the group had made friends with on previous trips to Europe. The enthusiastic crowd joined in with Oscillator X, singing thier way through the approximately 20-song set. At one point in the show, a power supply (apparently unable to cope with the 240 volt power), gave out and the show came to a screeching halt. Not “phased” in the slightest, the crowd continued singing the song while a new power supply was hastilly pressed into service and the concert resumed without a hitch. Many thanks to the French fans for helping the band through that “speedbump” in the show, which incidentally, was the first (and hopefully ONLY) time that such a malfunction has occured.
Overall, the Paris trip was an overwhelming success for the band and also included lots of sightseeing around Paris and some great times with friends, both old and new.
